» Top 10 topics to avoid when dating a Silver Fox

  01. Being late -- If you have a faulty mental clock, get it fixed quick! Your being late makes a horrendous topic to start your date. "Are you always this late?" or "Are there any clocks in your house?" are the first words you might hear, instead of "Thank you for coming" If you want to have a successful date, get your act together and show up on time!

  02. "I left my wallet at home" -- Some smart asses out there expect the Silver Fox to pay for everything by default, WRONG, WRONG! If you don't want the Silver Fox to misteriously disappear then offer to pay for some things; it shows stability and independence. When a Silver Fox asks, "You mean you forgot it again?" trust me, its the beginning of the end.

  03. "Clubbing in excess" -- There's a term that's really bad when said by a Silver Fox: "bar-fly." Some older men enjoy doing things with younger people, because it makes them feel younger and active, but when you ask a Silver Fox to join you at a bar on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you're jeopardizing things big time. Bars can be fun as long as they do not become a way of life.

  04. Get to his house for dinner empty handed -- How much does a drink cost at your local bar? four or five bucks? At any grocery store or local wine shop, you can pick up a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio for $6.50! Showing up with a little vino to reciprocate in advance, while not a requisite, is a nice gesture that any Silver Fox will appreciate. Moreover, he'll think highly of your manners.

  05. Leaving your cruise control set to ON -- Who will ignore a beautiful man walking down the restaurant aisle? No one. BUT, talk about offending someone! if you go on a date with a Silver Fox, believe me, he'll see this as bad-ass. If you're interested in a Silver Fox as a potential friend, stop turning that little head all over the shop! It is an sign of disrespect.

  06. Getting freakin' drunk all-the-time! -- If you enjoy your drinks, you'll have all night after you get home from your date to get wasted (not good for for you, but you'll do it anyway). While a couple of drinks might melt the ice between you and the Silver Fox, you don't want them to melt your date. Did you know that chemically alcohol is a solvent? It dissolves dates and relationships in a jiffy!

  07. "All I eat is Thai food" -- From personal experience, Silver Foxes are very tolerant and patient, but you don't want to bug them with picky personal habits. Broaden your horizons! Try new things; let him suggest the restaurant and go! The last thing you ever want to do is to impose on another person; change your little habits if you want the relationship to last.

  08. Being judgmental -- Unless your date is an obvious axe murderer or potential nutcase, remain calm and listen to him carefully before writing him off. Everyone's different and deserves time to tell their story. Rush to first-date judgment and you'll have lots and lots of time to regret the hasty rejection of someone who might have been the love of your life.

  09. Fall in love with a married man? -- If you want to date a married man be prepared to understand where he's coming from. Some married silver foxes will be upfront about it (If not shame on you!) Do not attempt to change this, there's much more involved in these situations than you'll ever understand, if he really makes you happy, Ces't La Vie, enjoy!

  10. Dating isn't a relationship -- Dating is the period of time you give yourself to evaluate whether you want a relationship or not. If you have found someone who is too good to be true, look after them! Follow the Do's of dating a Silver Fox, but for goodness sake, don't buy engagement rings yet! Buy him his first teddy bear instead. Take your time and enjoy this wonderful period of discovery.
