One boy, lots of dreams..


When I was a kid, I had a passion for color and shapes. My parents always said that I would spend hours arranging and re-arranging colored blocks. So I guess my destiny was to become an artist someday and I did.

I used to draw everything my parents put in front of me, a vase, a flower, or an object. So by the time I was eleven, I loved everything related to the arts and painting. I was trained as a graphic designer in my native Mexico, also in England and the United States where I currently reside. I actually never took web design courses because such courses did not exist.

After graduation, I worked for a small company in Virginia, United States. That is when I first heard the term "Internet". In those days, the “web” was a dull and dark place; very much in black and white. My training in graphic design was for print design; therefore, it was very easy for me to design a website but programming it was a different story!

I dreamt many times about a place where people could meet other than at a bar; a place that was special; where people treated one another with dignity and respect; a place for mature men and younger men. So, after I learned how to program websites I created the first version of SeniorLover shown below.





Version 1.0 Summer 2004



The first version was very simple and the programming was far from ideal, and I was an artist not a programmer. So I began to learn how to program websites. In those days I was employed in the private sector and I knew rapidly that my destiny was to follow my own star, so I started my own enterprise. When you have a steady job the idea of abandoning that to follow your dreams is scary, because your bills keep coming and they do not care whether you are employed or not.

SeniorLover was a huge overnight success and many people started signing up. That is when I realized that I needed to add more features and a more automated system to do other things, so I made several revisions for version 2 of SeniorLover (shown below)





SeniorLover Version 2.0 Winter 2005



During this period of time I was going through many changes in my personal and professional life. My website and the wonderful people who were joining really were a great occupational therapy for me, as they say, they kept me sane!

I really wanted my site to have more and more features including the ability for the Latin audiences to join. I really wanted my people to be able to enjoy a site like this in their own language, so with version 2.0, I announced the launch of SeniorLover Version 3.0 available also in Spanish.

But let's face it; I had bills to pay and a living to make. Therefore, I did yet another seasonal change to the interface while preparing the Spanish version of the site, which was like a double effort. The third version of SeniorLover was released in 2006 (shown below)

The third version of SeniorLover was much more sophisticated and offered automatic registration. I also modified the profile section so users could access their own profiles and change them. Additionally, much more content was added to the existing sections so the site was increasing substantially.

I really didn't want the site to become another website packed with dirty pictures or dirty stories. Since I don't believe in "models" I wanted to rely on my subscribers to create the website galleries; also, many other websites were filled with pictures of mature men who might not even be gay. (And did NOT know where their pictures ended)

By now I was ready to launch SeniorLover Version 4 in both Spanish and English (shown below)

The bilingual version of SeniorLover remained operational until the spring of 2007 when I took the site down to work on personal projects and, as much as I loved it, it became a full time job!! So I decided to completely revamp the infrastructure, registration database and structure of the site to make it simpler.

The new version that you are navigating is far from being perfect. I have too many plans for this site yet; but this place is my baby and a space for us to enjoy, to meet a wonderful person or to hook up with a hot guy.

The purpose of this site is to be able to connect with other men safely and to hear what other people think about the dating game. I respect your privacy immensely and would never sell your info to others, especially to freaking telemarketing firms! Thanks to all of you who have been following the changes and lifespan of SeniorLover, this site is for you!
